This is my rifle: Mexican children ‘recruited’ into indigenous community police

Around 20 children, aged between 8 and 14, were given rifles to train with, after being ‘recruited’ into an indigenous community police force in Alcozacan, in Mexico’s south-western Guerrero state. The youngest ones were filmed marching with sticks, which they were pretending were rifles.

The children were ‘recruited’ as the newest members of a vigilante group protesting last week’s murders of 10 indigenous musicians and an increase in violence in the area.
