Protests continue in Chile despite president’s promise to fight corruption & improve equality

Chilean President Sebastian Pinera announced new measures Monday in an attempt to calm the protests that have shaken his country for the past 53 days. During a speech on national television, Pinera outlined his agenda to fight corruption, improve inequality and protect human rights.

Despite this people took the streets in Santiago on Monday to protest Pinera’s announcement as police used water cannon to break up the demonstrations.
