On the 25th day since the protests started, people continued to gather in huge numbers in the capital Beirut to demand an end to the political power-sharing system that’s been in place since the end of the civil war in 1990.
Many of the politicians have been in the government for the last thirty years. Protesters have been demanding an end to corruption and incompetence that has left the tiny country highly indebted and facing a severe economic crisis.
Prime Minister Saad Hariri resigned on October 29, but President Michel Aoun has still to begin consultations to form a new government.
