‘One giant leap for mankind’: 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 moon landing

Two of the three Apollo 11 astronauts will return to the exact spot on Tuesday from where they flew to the Moon 50 years ago. NASA invited Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins to the Kennedy Space Centre’s Launch Complex 39A to mark the anniversary. They will mark the precise moment — 9:32am local time on 16 July 1969 — their Saturn V rocket departed on humanity’s first Moon landing. Mission commander Neil Armstrong, who took the first lunar footsteps, died in 2012.
