The White House has promised UK officials that they will not repeat the lie that British Intelligence assisted President Obama in wiretapping Donald Trump during the election.
James Slack, spokesperson for UK Prime Minister Theresa May said: “We have received assurances that these allegations won’t be repeated.”
Slack added that the allegation was “utterly ridiculous and should be ignored.”
The controversy arose when White House Press Secretary repeated something Fox News pundit Judge Andrew Napolitano, a former adviser to the Trump campaign, said on air that the British Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) had helped the Obama administration spy on Trump. Napolitano claimed he had 3 sources confirm his story although they were all anonymous and unverifiable outside of Napolitano.
