Trump’s pick for education secretary is opposed by hundreds of thousands of Americans across the country, and now 300 more lawmakers in all 50 states are joining the fighting against Betsy DeVos nomination.
This 300 is just the latest in a statewide legislative boycott of DeVos, encompassing 7,300 state legislatures, civil rights groups, teachers unions, child advocates, and parents themselves.
In a letter, the lawmakers expressed “deep concern” because of DeVos “lack of experience with public education, failure to understand key federal laws, and track record of undermining public education” makes her uniquely unqualified for the position of secretary of education.
Crowds of protesters flooded Capitol Hill, Portland, Nashville, and Michigan on Sunday to protest DeVos’ nomination. They chanted: “Toss DeVos” and “A, B, C, D, E, F, G, Betsy DeVos is not for me.”This post was originally published on this site
