Trump’s New Muslim Ban Gets Blocked Hours Before Its Scheduled to Take Effect

Just hours before the revised travel ban was to go into effect, US District Court Judge Derrick Watson out of Hawaii has placed a nationwide block on Donald Trump’s second attempt at a Muslim ban.

Watson said the plaintiffs displayed a “strong” likelihood that their lawsuit against the new Muslim ban would succeed in court based on the argument that the revised travel ban violates the 1st amendment’s establishment clause and would cause “irreparable harm” if a temporary restraining order were not granted.

Watson wrote in his ruling that “the illogic of the Government’s contentions is palpable” because the “notion that one can demonstrate animus toward any group of people only by targeting all of them at once is fundamentally flawed.”
