Budget Director Pushes Trump Conspiracy About Unemployment Numbers

Mick Mulvaney, director of the Office of Management and Budget for the Trump administration, told Jake Tapper that the previous administration doctored employment data to make the unemployment rate “look smaller than it actually was.”

Mulvaney said during the interview on CNN’s State of the Union: “What you should really look at is the number of jobs created. We’ve thought for a long time, I did, that the Obama administration was manipulating the numbers, in terms of the number of people in the workforce, to make the unemployment rate — that percentage rate — look smaller than it actually was.”
